Kaleb Akins, Class of 2025, has already found his groove at the University of Florida. He is pursuing a degree in Microbiology and Cell Science in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences.
His biggest win?
“I feel that Q.I. absolutely raised my threshold for the volume of work and material I’m able to learn in a given time—beyond what I’ve had to handle so far in my classes. Additionally, the humanities and history courses at Q.I. gave me a broader context for the world, helping me make meaningful connections across timelines and subjects.”
One thing he wishes he knew before college?
How to cook! Saving money by preparing home-cooked meals is a skill he’s learning now.
Thank you, Kaleb, for sharing your journey. Once a Knight, always a Knight.

Her biggest win?
“I feel more confident in my ability to network and build relationships that will support me both academically and professionally. I’ve also used so many skills I developed at Q.I.—like essay writing, problem-solving, mind-mapping, citation research, study strategies, and more.”
Madeline encourages others not to give up:
“College is one of the best decisions I’ve made. While it can be hard at times and may feel overwhelming, it’s incredibly rewarding to see your hard work pay off. Go Gators!”
Thank you, Madeline, for sharing your journey. Once a Knight, always a Knight.
