Music Video Update
I filmed majority of my music video almost two weeks ago at the ravines. I worked hard on making sure framing was balanced. I also tried to make the shots look as candid as possible; Just some people playing instruments. I still need to film someone singing the vocals the song because with out that my video will not feel complete. I like the misen scene that was created in my video. The colors are all in a similar color pallete creating cohesiveness that I did not have intentions of creating. I'm going to keep this color pallete throughout. I have already created my music website and I still need to create a better design for the album cover of the music video. I still need to film and edit but after that I should be good.

Postmodernism and Postmodern Media:
Today I will be discussing Postmodernism and Postmodern media; what that consists of and and some examples of it. So what is postmodernism in the media? Postmodernism is a movement that challenges objective reality, value systems, human nature, and social progress. Works in postmodernism, a lot of time have an attitude of rejection or irony toward typically-accepted narratives. The whole point of postmodernism is to be out of the box, blending genres or changing the narrative nature of a film. Some characteristics that you can use to identify a postmodern movie are irony, distortion of time, themes of paranoia, hyperreality, unpredictability, and more. Postmodernism may be hard to determine because the whole philosophy aims to reject typically-held notions of definition.
Some examples of this could be the movie Romeo and Juliet that came out in the year 1996.This movie is a great example of postmodernism because it takes the traditional story of Romeo and Juliet that dates back to the year 1597 of publication, and the modern day realities into one movie. They do this by keeping the old english language that is used in the original romeo and juliet, and combine it with modern day technologies such as guns and cars, and include modern day settings as well to create the postmodern film.
What's Happening in the Library?

This past week, we shifted from looking at representation in film and started to focus on how film scores impact a scene. The task for this week is to create a 45-47 second sequence where we will apply two different film scores to change the overall ambiance of the film.
For Brent and I’s sequence we will be portraying a character walking through a library when a book falls off the shelf behind them. The book will fall open on the ground and the character will look at it with an emotion that can be interpreted by the audience based on the film score used.
In the first shot there will be a focus on the books on the bookshelf while the character appears to be looking at books, or examining them. With over the shoulder shots and shots of the character walking from the front, with her in the first third of the screen
The next scene can be a behind shot of the girl in the third of the screen when the book falls off the shelf. This will be filmed evenly on the screen with the book falling off the shelf.
The last shot will be of the girl turning around and looking at the book with an expression that will match with the film score. This shot will start over the shoulder and slowly come down to a lower upper angle shot.

Postmodern media
-the way media audiences and industries operate differently in a postmodern world
What is postmodernism? “Postmodernism is a theory which argues that other theories and critical perspectives are incapable of explaining our experiences because the world is too fragmented and unfinished to be defined. Postmodernists reject the concept of absolute truth. Therefore, religion and political systems are just futile attempts to understand the chaos.” https://media-studies.com/postmodernism/
Media audiences and industries operate differently in a postmodern world by being more creative and not following societal standards. In other words more out of the box. An example of this would be when characters break the “fourth” wall, non-linear narratives, subjectivity, self-reflectivity, ect.
Power and the media
-the dynamic nature of power relationships within and between audiences and the media
Media develop content about and for their audience.
Production of television has changed over the years. In past years television promoted commercials. The rise of new social media platforms has made it where streaming is available to whoever wherever at any time. The way television is promoted now has to be different from the past in order to make money off the money. For example all movies played at movie theaters can also be streamed at home. So if movie theaters and movie companies want to make money from that they have to be creative in their marketing strategies. For example: The Barbie movie; the Barbie movie had people selling out seats at the theaters because of the trends on social media of wearing pink or dressing up as your favorite toy barbie when going to watch the movie. This made movie companies lots of money. The media had the power to increase ratings for the movie by a landslide, not just from the fun positives of dressing up but also the negatives of controversy around the movie. The movie had a lot of controversy around it because of the Postmodern approach that the movie producers took; they were inclusive to all “beauty standards”, and were delivering a “controversial” message . This brought a lot of attention to the movie and even people who I heard say, “I'm not watching that movie because I don't agree with the message of it.”, still watched the movie because of the interest that was being promoted around it on social media.
